Well life post vacation has returned to normal. I'm in the last days of total freedom before I begin working temporarily as a standardized test grader for the written portion of the exams. After that a three week intensive French course through the university and then summer. I'm contemplating a few midwest roadtrips with the kids. I want to go back to Ames, Iowa for a visit, maybe Minnesota and Kansas? The grand family vacation will be somewhere on a lake in Canada in August. Can you tell I'm already thinking away those long summer days?
Micaela went and checked out a charter school here in town for girls in 5th thru 8th grade. She is very excited about the possibility of going there. She really feels like she's not getting what she wants out of public school (after having homeschooled for the two years prior to this one) and this school is for "motivated" kids so we hope she gets in. The classes are small and the kids in the school all seemed able to talk to adults without looking at them as if they were aliens. This is something that always impressed me about homeschooled kids. Going into Micaela's classroom to get her the kids usually look at me as if I'm an alien lifeform and if I try to talk to them wow!
Got my first root canal today and it was a breeze. Don't know why I was prepared to suffer. I think fillings have been worse than this and honestly not having the temperature sensitivity and pressure when eating already has me happy. #
